Hyundai Robotics Announced 5G-based Business Cooperation Outcomes with KT

On November 7, Hyundai Robotics held the “5G-based Business Cooperation Outcome Presentation” at Novotel Ambassador Dongdaemun.

The presentation was attended by about 20 senior executives, including Vice Chairman Kwon Oh-gap and Vice-President Chung Gi-seon of Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings, Managing Director Seo Yoo Seong from Hyundai Robotics, Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings, and Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu and President Koo Hyeon-mo from KT.

The meeting was prepared as a venue to review the progress of the business that has been undertaken since the MOU was signed by the two companies last May and to discuss future plans for upgrading the business. Particularly on this day, Hyundai Robotics' robot technology and KT's 5G network and AI technology were combined to showcase various products and technologies for on-site productivity improvement and manufacturing innovation.

Here, the two companies presented: △ A cloud-based automated robot management system, △ An AI voice recognition cooperation robot, △ A mobile robot (new hotel amenity robot), and △ KT Smart Factory Solution (Factory Makers).

The cloud-based robot management system is a system that implements the HRMS, the robot management system of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, in the KT cloud, and it can control the management system without having to build separate hardware. At present, Hyundai Heavy Industries is partially applying it to making the car bodies of Hyundai Motor, and it is also suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises to employ.

The AI voice recognition collaboration robot integrates ‘KT GiGA Genie Inside’ with Hyundai Heavy Industries Group's collaboration robots to enable operators to control the robot's motion and support the work with voice commands. It is scheduled to be adopted in April next year, and the response speed will be expedited when 5G 28㎓ network is commercialized.

The new hotel amenity robot is characterized by its application of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group’s mobile robot manufacturing technology to the KT AI hotel robot. Factory Makers is KT’s remote control platform that collects, analyzes, and controls data from various facilities in the factory.

Hyundai Robotics stated that it would sharpen its competitive edge in the robot business by adding KT’s artificial intelligence and big data technology, arousing interest in its future actions.
