Robot Newspaper awards 18 robot specialists
 
The award ceremony for 2019 Korea Robot Company of the Year selected by Robot Newspaper was held on December 24, 2019, at the Sheraton Seoul Palace Hotel.

The ceremony was attended by the representatives of 18 awardees and 40 people from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, Korea Association of Robot Industry, Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology Robot PD, and Incheon Technopark.
 
Kim Dong-hyeok, the Managing Director of Hyundai Robotics, started off by saying, “In May next year, we will separate from Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings and start anew as Hyundai Robotics." He then said, "We faced difficulties in meeting the robot sales target as the investment for robots in major markets like automobiles and LCD were canceled, but we made new opportunities for growth with the smart factory business and expansion of the business in China." He also said, “The share occupied by the robot business is still insignificant yet. However, I believe that it has greater growth potential than any other industry.”

“Korea Robot Company of the Year” was founded by Robot Newspaper in 2016, and the awardees are selected through the comprehensive assessment of the overall factors, from the contributions to the development of the Korean robot industry to future growth potentials, CEOs’ management capabilities, new product releases, and market responses and others.
Hyundai Robotics has been selected as Korea’s robot company of the year by standing out in the industrial robot sector and is consolidating its position as Korea’s no. 1 robot manufacturer by the recent development of Korea’s first robots for heavy industries and the expansion of the business area of new business development.
